Troubleshooting
GPS won’t lock / “GPS Ready” never appears
The pre-start screen shows a GPS Ready status once your watch has a usable fix — if it’s stuck on “Connecting…”:
- Make sure you have a clear view of the sky. GPS acquisition is slow or unreliable indoors, near tall buildings, or under heavy tree cover.
- Give it 30–60 seconds after opening the app before starting — the first fix after opening Active Metrics is usually the slowest.
- If it’s still stuck, background-close the app on your watch and reopen it.
The app keeps re-asking for a permission I already granted
This usually happens after reinstalling the app (a new TestFlight build counts as a fresh install to iOS) or if you changed the permission in Settings since granting it. Check Settings → Privacy & Security → [Health / Location / Motion & Fitness / Bluetooth] on your iPhone to see the current status and re-grant if needed.
My watch and phone aren’t syncing
Workout, route, and settings sync happens through your own iCloud account, not a direct watch-to-phone connection. If a workout isn’t showing up on your phone:
- Confirm both devices are signed into the same iCloud account.
- Check you have an internet connection on at least one device — CloudKit sync needs it.
- Sync isn’t instant; give it a few minutes, especially right after a workout ends.
- As a last resort, a watch/phone Bluetooth range check (they need to be roughly nearby) and a restart of both devices resolves most stuck-sync cases.
Offline maps are taking up too much space, or won’t download
Offline map regions are stored per-device — on your phone under Plan → Offline Maps, and synced to your watch automatically. If a region download fails or seems stuck:
- Check available storage on the device — a large region (especially at higher detail) can be a multi-gigabyte download.
- Delete regions you no longer need from the Offline Maps list before downloading a new one.
- Downloads use Wi-Fi by default; check the cellular toggle in Offline Maps settings if you’re trying to download away from Wi-Fi.
